You’ve invested in a new website, it’s gone live, and everything looks great. Job done? Not quite. Here’s what needs to happen after launch.

Monitor for issues. In the first few weeks, check your site regularly on different devices and browsers. Sometimes problems only appear with real-world use.

Set up analytics. If you haven’t already, get Google Analytics installed and configured. You need to understand how people are using your site.

Submit to search engines. While Google will find your site eventually, submitting your sitemap through Google Search Console speeds things up.

Keep content fresh. Your website isn’t a “set and forget” project. Regular updates, new blog posts, and fresh content signal to search engines that your site is active.

Stay on top of maintenance. Software updates, security patches, and regular backups protect your investment. If you’re on a platform like Shopify, much of this is handled for you.

Plan for improvements. Your first version is never perfect. Gather feedback, watch how visitors behave, and plan iterative improvements over time.

A website launch is the beginning of a journey, not the end.
